Good Evening! though I guess you could be reading this at any time so good Morning or Afternoon to you all. The reason I'm currently sat writing this so late, is because I have just had the most gorgeous dinner ever, and I wanted to share it with you whilst I still have the taste lingering in my mouth.
It's my mum and dads wedding anniversary on the 22nd and so to celebrate they planned to go to their favourite restaurant: Clarke's. Of course, like every child should, I invited myself to tag along which lead to the evening being a whole family affair! I can see why its their favourite. The food was stunning and the restaurant was gorgeous too. Clarke's was originally famous for its set menu. Customers turned up and got what they were given, which was novel when the restaurant opened over 30 years ago. Though there is an À la carte menu available, we all went for Sally's Choice (The set menu) and I'm very glad I did!
For starter we had Salad of peas, green asparagus and fava beans with burrata, Cornish leaves and Balsamic dressing. Now if I'm honest, you would never catch me eating a salad in a restaurant. In fact, your lucky to catch me eating a salad at all. However, for the first time I ate the whole thing without a single complaint and would quite possibly of had some more if it was available. 1 Point to Sally.
For mains we had Breast and leg of corn fed chicken roasted with tarragon, white sprouting broccoli, rainbow carrots and potato galette. Ohh God was it good! I could have easily had 2 plates of the stuff it was that good.
Dessert... My favourite part of any meal, and Clarke didn't disappoint. We had soft meringue with strawberries, sprinkled with pistachio nuts. Yum,Yum,Yum!
To top it all off we had the best chocolate truffles I have EVER tasted... Thats saying something as I am a top class chocolate tester!
